RF Microneedling
for Body
Just as we can use radio frequency (RF) microneedling to treat skin texture and laxity on the face, neck and chest, we can also utilize this modality to treat loose skin on any part of the body such as the stomach, buttocks and arms. It punctures tiny holes into the skin which generates inflammation. This turns on the healing cascade part of which consists of collagen and elastin. This together with the heat delivered via radio frequency smooths and tightens the skin.
What to expect during treatment?
A topical anesthetic is applied for about one hour before treatment. A group of micro pins are injected into the skin at various depths to simulate healing. The skin may feel warm. You may feel a prickling, snapping or stinging sensation.
What to expect after treatment?
Downtime is minimal. Skin may be red for 4-5 days following treatment. The skin may peel or itch as it is healing. Prick marks on the skin can last for 3-5 days.
How many treatments are needed?
Generally, between 3-5 treatments scheduled 4 weeks apart. Treatment time depends on the area(s) being treated but can range from 30-45 minutes. Maintenance 1-2 times per year is recommended. Keeping a healthy weight with diet and exercise is important to maintain the effects of treatment.
When will I see results?
Most noticeable results are seen after a series of treatments and continue 3 months post treatment as collagen and elastin are regenerating.
Risks associated with treatment
Hyperpigmentation in certain skin types may occur. Settings are adjusted accordingly. Treatment may be ineffective in those with very loose or sagging skin.
